On Tuesday’s episode, Chris Harrison essentially portrayed producers as being completely blameless in the DeMario-Corinne controversy, blaming the media for sensationalizing the sex scandal, as Emily Yahr points out. Harrison would later declare to Variety that “journalism is dead.” Says Yahr: “The episode was also pretty cringeworthy damage control, relieving the show of any responsibility, complete with a dose of media-bashing.” PLUS: The controversy became “a plot point to be explored and then briskly abandoned.”
