The Academy Awards, which aired on Feb. 24 this year, has already sparked anxiety by moving to Feb. 9 for 2020, its earliest-ever date. Yet the early date, which puts the Super Bowl and the Oscars on back-to-back Sundays for the first time, appears to be short-lived. The Academy announced this morning the 2021 and the 2022 Oscars will be held on Feb. 28 and Feb. 27, respectively. The Academy explained via press release that the timing of the 2022 Olympics, the Super Bowl and national holidays will keep the Oscars on the last Sunday in February. Oscar dates for 2023 and beyond haven't been set.
