"They are just overlooking it," 50 Cent said of Power never receiving a single Emmy nomination while promoting the final season at the TV press tour. "People who are connected to these ceremonies are not necessarily cool people.” Creator Courtney A. Kemp chimed in, saying: "Now we will never get one." Kemp added that it took a while for the mainstream media to discover Power. “It was disappointing. I thought we were doing something new and fresh, and we were hoping the Emmy voters would take notice and they didn’t,” Kemp said. “We have been winning Image Awards for quite some time. Our core audiences does love and respect the show. We were pioneers. If we premiered two or three years later, it might have been different. It took a while for the mainstream to notice and that sweet spot window had disappeared.” ALSO: 50 Cent reveals his next Starz project will be a drama based on the drug trafficking organization Black Mafia Family.
