Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television will produce Good Night Oppy, which will "tell the true story of Opportunity — a Mars exploration rover that was active from 2004 to 2018 — and the bond forged between the robot and the humans that created her," according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Oppy became an international sensation over its 15 year-long mission, which came to an end with one final communication to earth: 'My battery is low and it's getting dark.'" NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which successfully landed Opportunity’s “younger sister” Perseverance on Mars last month, is providing filmmakers with access and unique footage in the filming of this documentary.
