Nearly four years after joining Seth Meyers — soon after SNL rejected her — Ruffin is still thrilled for her role on screen and behind the scenes as the first black woman to write for a network late-night show. “Every day I am shocked,” she says. “I can’t believe it and everyone acts like it’s normal. I am literally skipping down the hallway, I cannot believe it, I love it so bad.”
