Apple TV+ orders a Robert Downey Jr.-produced detective drama

The untitled show from Downey and wife Susan Downey is based on the January 2020 Toronto Life article titled "The Sting," which revolves around "a frustrated Canadian detective who takes on a decades-old case in hopes of winning a confession and becoming a hero," per The Hollywood Reporter. "The case quickly spirals out of control when the undercover cop attempts an elaborate sting, adding playacting cops, taxpayer resources and an unexpected friendship with the peculiar target." Former Billions executive producer Adam Perlman is on board to write and serve as showrunner. Downey may also play a supporting role.
