BET is adapting Eddie Murphy's Boomerang and making a drama on the life of Soul Train's Don Cornelius

"Premium scripted content" is the goal with the pickup of three new series: a half-hour comedy based on Murphy's 1992 movie Boomerang, American Soul based on Cornelius' life and the comedy Peachtree Place about five 30-somethings in Atlanta.. "The shows that have been most successful on BET are all scripted," says new BET president Scott Mills.
