Many bisexual, pansexual and transgender Twitter users expressing discomfort with a scene Netflix tweeted out Saturday in which Ali Wong's character says: "Bisexual is so binary," adding "being pansexual means my sexual preference isn’t limited by gender identity." Actress Mara Wilson, who came out as bisexual in 2016, was among those expressing outrage with the clip. "This is wrong and irresponsible," she tweeted. "I get that it’s a comedy, but this is presented as truth within the show. Very disappointing. And to those who think Bi’s aren’t attracted to or don’t date transgender or (not bisexual) people... I could introduce you to some people who know otherwise." As Princess Weekes notes, Big Mouth's explanation of bisexuality is wrong, dated and biphobic. "It’s such a dated presentation of an issue that is really important," Weekes writes, adding: "I think that Nick Kroll and the people at Big Mouth have tried their best to be knowledgable. This clip does not highlight the best of their work and the reality is that while the clip is biphobic, I don’t think the series understands why."
