Bravo's The Real Housewives of Dubai hit with backlash over the United Arab Emirates' laws against women and the LGBTQ community

Andy Cohen's announcement on Monday that Dubai will be home to The Real Housewives' first official international franchise prompted many on Twitter to point out UAE's laws against women and gay people. The UAE ranks 120th  of 153 countries in gender equality, according to a 2020 report from the World Economic Forum. And travel safety blog Equaldex named the country the ninth most dangerous country in the world for members of the LGBTQ community to visit.
