Netflix unsurprisingly picked up a second season of the Shondaland series, which is projected to be seen by 63 million households. Season 2, which begins production this spring, will focus on Book 2 of Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, The Viscount Who Loved Me, specifically the romantic exploits of Jonathan Bailey's Anthony Bridgerton. Netflix announced the renewal via a cheeky notice from Lady Whistledown's Society Papers. "Dearest Readers," began the notice. "The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honor to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season. I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion. The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the Spring of 2021. This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities." ALSO: Creator Chris Van Dusen says "a bunch of new characters" will join Season 2, including a new “love interest” for Lord Anthony.
