Britain's ITV edits out a homophobic joke from the 2002 film Spider-Man

Early in the movie, Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker says to his opponent at a wrestling match, “That’s a cute outfit. Did your husband give it to you?” ITV edited out the last sentence, so Parker only says: "That's a cute outfit." In a statement, ITV defended its decision in response to online backlash: “We carefully consider the suitability of content we broadcast and appropriateness of language used to ensure that it meets audience expectations, especially when intended for family viewing.”
