CBS Sports, which is currently paying $55 million a year to air college football's most-watched TV package through 2023, put in a bid to renew the deal for about $300 million per season. But the offer big wasn't good enough. “We made a strong and responsible bid. While we‘ve had success with the SEC on CBS, we are instead choosing to aggressively focus on other important strategic priorities moving forward," CBS Sports told Sports Business Journal. CBS is expected to instead use the money to renew its NFL deal. The SEC package is expected to land on ABC/ESPN once CBS' deal expires.
