Multi-state cannabis company Acreage Holdings, whose board members include former House Speaker John Boehner, was unable to get its commercial placed in Super Bowl LIII despite medical marijuana being legal in more than 30 states. The advertisement aimed to “create an advocacy campaign for constituents who are being lost in the dialogue,” Acreage President George Allen said. Some say the rejection is a bad look for CBS. Philadelphia Eagles player Chris Long, who played in the last two Super Bowls, pointed out the hypocrisy in CBS' decision, tweeting: "Keep pumping the booze ads, guys. You’re doing great!"
