The Chicago Police Department is still saying there's "no evidence" the attack on Smollett was a hoax while announcing that two Nigerian brothers, who reportedly worked on Empire, have been elevated from "persons of interest" to "potential suspects." “Detectives have probable cause that they may have been involved in an alleged crime and we are working to corroborate the allegations and investigative timeline as our investigation continues,” Chicago P.D. spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement. Guglielmi also said in a statement: "While we haven’t found any video documenting the alleged attack, there is also no evidence to say that this is a hoax. The alleged victim is being cooperative at this time and continues to be treated as the victim, not a suspect. The investigation continues.” UPDATE: Brothers Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo, who are former Empire extras, have been arrested for battery.
