The original plan was for the Magnolia app -- launching six months before Magnolia Network's debut in January -- to be a paid app. But the plan experienced an “evolution to free,” says Magnolia Network president Allison Page. “A direct-to-consumer offering was something we envisioned from the beginning, we just thought we were going to start with linear and then move to the app," says Page. "It was not determined that it would be paid, we kind of stayed open to all options as we went along. So that wasn’t a shift as much as an evolution." Meanwhile, Magnolia Network has released trailers for Zoe Bakes, Van Go, Homegrown, First Time Fixer and The Courage to Run.
