Davis wrote Elvis Presley's hits “In the Ghetto,” "A Little Less Conversation” and “Memories” before becoming a star in his own right. From 1974 to 1976, Davis parlayed his fame into his own variety series The Mac Davis Show. He also starred in a number of TV specials throughout the 1980s.
