After becoming a breakout star on the AMC zombie drama, Gurira has signed a deal to return for her final season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Gurira becomes the third major Walking Dead cast member to exit in as many months, following Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan. "Under her new deal, Gurira will return in a limited capacity — described as only a handful of episodes — that will be interspersed throughout season 10," reports The Hollywood Reporter's Leslie Goldberg. "The actress, playwright and social activist will then likely segue to the three Walking Dead movies that AMC is planning with former leading man Andrew Lincoln." Goldberg points out that "Gurira's departure is not completely surprising given her breakout status," including her work on Black Panther, Broadway and recently as a U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador.
