The Oscar-nominated actor won a Daytime Emmy for 1980 ABC Afterschool Special: A Family of Strangers, about a widower with two daughters who marries a widow with one daughter, creating a blended family. He also starred in the CBS' The Last Don in 1997, playing the title character, an aging mafia boss, in the miniseries based on The Godfather author Mario Puzo's 1996 novel of the same name. In 2017, he lent his voice to Hulu's Difficult People, playing himself.
