The Lights Out host says he has the support of his staff for his home-filmed segments, but he has to do the day-to-day work. “They have to make me set up the camera, and the phone and the lighting and the mike,” Spade tells Variety. “I walk around while they are in my ear – ‘Walk right down the stairs.’ ‘We see your face.’ I’m sweating.” Spade adds: “It’s hard to stop in your tracks. We were like the XFL – just getting going.” In addition to interviewing fellow comics, Spade has in recent days started interviewing Tiger King stars, including Kelci Saffery, Jeff Lowe and John Finlay. "The Joe Dirt connection is working for me," says Spade, noting the comparisons between Joe Exotic and his 2001 movie.
