Daytime Emmys is moving forward with its plan to eliminate two gender-specific acting categories

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is expected to announce Tuesday that the Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series will replace the two actor and actress categories, reports Variety. "Also, NATAS plans to clarify that in its remaining gendered acting categories, performers will be encouraged to enter the one they feel best fits their gender identity," adds Variety's Michael Schneider. "The Daytime Emmys will allow eligible performers to select the category they feel best represents themselves."
