Did Amazon's Lord of the Rings series part ways with its J.R.R. Tolkien scholar?

Tom Shippey, a longtime Tolkien scholar and friend of the author's, is rumored to be out of the Amazon project. Fellow Tolkien scholar Corey Olsen revealed the unconfirmed news in a Twitch livestream. Olsen says he doesn't believe Shippey was fired. "It's certainly not that simple. Is he still involved? I don't believe so. I'm not 100 percent sure if that is the permanent state of affairs, but I do not believe he is involved as of right now." Shippey was one of the high-profile names when Amazon announced its Lord of the Rings creative team last July.
