Product integration isn't unusual on unscripted shows, as Andy Dehnart points out. "Yet I also could not recall a host making as explicit a sponsorship statement as Mike Rowe did there, and also was shocked by the actual advertiser: the oil industry?!," says Dehnart. "On the one hand, it’s nice transparency: Here’s who paid for this. On the other hand, it’s the oil industry."
