The 1983 romantic drama film that made Jennifer Beals a star is being rebooted for the streaming service currently known as CBS All Access. "The new take will revolve around a young Black woman with ballet dreams and a strip club reality who struggles to find her place in the world while navigating romance, money, art, friendship and how to love herself," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Original Flashdance producer Lynda Obst will serve as executive producer, while relationship expert and former Good Girls Revolotand Mad Men writer Tracy McMillan will pen the script. Flashdance was a Paramount Pictures movie and is the latest attempt to use ViacomCBS intellectual property for potential series.
