Former ABC executive Bob Shanks, who helped create Good Morning America and 20/20, dies at 88

Shanks, then an ABC vice president, helped launch GMA in 1975 as a competitor to NBC's Today show and 20/20 in response to 60 Minutes' success in 1978. He's also responsible for ABC News' hiring of Geraldo Rivera.
