Gallagher was found not guilty of murder and attempted murder two years ago after he was accused of stabbing a young wounded fighter for ISIS, posing for a picture with the corpse and shooting two civilians from a sniper's perch in Iraq in 2017. Gallagher was found guilty on the charge involving the photo with the corpse. Gallagher was later pardoned by then-President Trump. The New York Times is teaming with Working Title and writer Will Staples on an untitled limited series drama on Gallagher, based on Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Philipps’ upcoming book Alpha: Eddie Gallagher and the War for the Soul of the Navy SEALs and his 2019 New York Times article “Navy SEALs Were Warned Against Reporting Their Chief for War Crimes.” Deadline says "the story is an epic account of the startling accusations against former Navy SEAL chief, Eddie Gallagher, and the courtroom battle that exposed the dark underbelly of America’s special forces."
