Harris Faulkner announced the news of McEnany's hiring while interviewing her this morning. “It is my distinct pleasure today to welcome Kayleigh McEnany to the Fox family," said Faulkner. "We’ll be seeing much more of her in the future.” In January, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington revealed that McEnany was negotiating a Fox News job while still working at the White House, but the cable news network insisted that “Kayleigh McEnany is not currently an employee or contributor at Fox News." Before joining the White House, McEnany rose to fame as a political analyst at CNN. The Daily Beast reports McEnany's hiring "set off some alarms within a newsroom that has been 'purged' in recent months in favor of right-wing opinion programming and content geared towards keeping a diehard MAGA audience satisfied." As one Fox News insider put it: "It’s truly disgusting they fired hard-working journalists who did care about facts and news reporting only to turn around and hire a mini-Goebbels whose incessant lies from the White House helped incite an insurrection on our democracy that got five people killed, including a police officer. Post-Trump Fox is quickly becoming a very scary place and quite dangerous for our democracy. It’s not even conservative news anymore. They’ve plunged into an alternate reality where extremist propaganda is the only course on the menu.”
