Fox executives were asked about the future of The X-Files, especially with Gillian Anderson announcing that she won’t return for another season and Chris Carter saying he couldn't do the show without her. “You could’ve asked Chris (Carter), David (Duchovny) and Gillian at various times since the show originally premiered whether they would do more,” Fox Television Group chairman Gary Newman said at the TV Critics press tour. “Some days you’d get a ‘Yes,’ some days you’d get a ‘No.’ I would not exclude the possibility that there would be more. But not only is there no plan, there hasn’t been a single conversation. It’s too early to even speculate.” ALSO: Fox can't imagine The X-Files coming back without Gillian Anderson.
