Fox's Prodigal Son found inspiration from House

Hugh Laurie's Dr. Gregory House character "is someone we looked to as a main character who has some trauma you can keep going back to but still care about," co-creator Sam Sklaver said at the TV press tour. Fellow co-creator Chris Fedak added that while House was about diagnosing sickness, Prodigal Son is about diagnosing psychology. Fedak also called Prodigal Son a hybrid of Sherlock and Freud.
