Drescher and her fellow The Nanny co-creator Peter Marc Jacobson will write the book, while Bloom will write the lyrics for the musical adaptation of the 1990s hit sitcom. Bloom will also co-write the music with her Crazy Ex-Girlfriend colleague Adam Shlesinger. “We are SO excited to be working on the Broadway musical The Nanny,” Drescher and Jacobson said in a joint statement. “Nobody is cast yet — we’re plotting — but we feel confident we will find a fabulous actress who is funny, charming, and has a great voice,” Bloom and Drescher said in a statement. Drescher won't play the title role, she joked, because they would have to change the title to "The Granny." While discussing Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's final season with the Los Angeles Times last April, Bloom mentioned that "I've become friendly with Fran Drescher."
