In December 1992, one month after Bush lost the presidency to Bill Clinton, the then-president brought in the then-Saturday Night Live star to impersonate him before the White House staff. When "Hail to the Chief" began to play, Carvey as Bush entered the room. “I was staying in the Lincoln Bedroom last night and I couldn’t resist getting on the phone. And I called up the Secret Service as the president: ‘Feel like going jogging tonight in the nude,’” he said as Bush. Carvey also shared his secret to impersonating the president. “Start out with Mister Rogers — ‘It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood’ — then you add a little John Wayne,” said Carvey.
