The ABC eight-season 1986-1993 "TGIF" sitcom starring Mark Linn-Baker and Bronson Pinchot is the latest fan-favorite sitcom to get a reboot. A Black Lady Sketch Show's Thede and British comedian Hughes will co-star in the multicamera comedy as "perfect strangers Deja (Thede) and Poppy (Hughes) who unexpectedly discover that they are half-sisters when they both inherit a one-bedroom apartment above a trap yoga studio in Fort Greene, Brooklyn," according to the show's description. "Polar opposites, they must learn how to live and work together." Thede will write the script and serve as executive producer with Robert L. Boyett, who developed and executive produced the original series with creator Dale McRaven and his Miller-Boyett Productions producing partner Thomas L. Miller. (Miller died last year.) The original Perfect Strangers made Pinchot's "Cousin Balki" -- the distant cousin of Linn-Baker's Larry from the small (and fictional) Mediterranean island of Mypos -- a pop-culture sensation.
