A TV series based on the iconic horror franchise is in the works. As Deadline notes, Hellraiser has spawned 10 films, a book anthology, comic books, apparel, Halloween costumes, DVDs, and myriad globally licensed products. But it has never been a TV series. The producers of It and Ready Player One are teaming with the Hellraiser's TV rights holders to bring Pinhead to the small screen. "The intention is to use the mythology established in the movie franchise and the Clive Barker novella The Hellbound Heart as a launch pad for a new series that could be anthology, or a more traditional narrative," reports Deadline's Mike Fleming Jr. "The producers are underway with a search for a writer-showrunner, before setting it at a network or streamer, at a time when horror is performing strongly." The news of a TV version comes amid talk of a Hellraiser movie reboot.
