Cable news networks are having to juggle the impeachment proceedings, which begins Tuesday, with the 2020 presidential election. “There is an election campaign going on, and CNN has coverage plans that are somewhat unrelated to the impeachment trial,” says Sam Feist, CNN’s Washington Bureau chief. “We will have to remain flexible.” CBS News president Susan Zirinsky adds: “We have plans in place for anything that could happen."
