“Some of the jokes are going to be shocking to you,” host Jimmy Kimmel warned the crowd at the Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s All in the Family and The Jeffersons, noting the irony that certain words are no longer acceptable on TV, yet “now you can have dragons burning naked women at the stakes.” The special, airing tonight, re-creates the All in the Family and The Jeffersons sets side by side, with a five-camera setup to capture all the live action. Kimmel told the audience that some of the words used on stage will be bleeped even though they are based on episodes that aired on TV four decades ago.
