Is City on a Hill going overboard in trying to establish its Boston street cred?

Creator Chuck MacLean along with executive producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have put together a show "that, however authentic, so intensely embraces Boston film and television tropes that its characters might as well hop on the T to Braintree with cups of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee in hand," says Sonia Rao, in running down all the Boston tropes on Showtime's new political crime series. Rao adds: "Intrigued? Just wait for the second episode, titled 'What They Saw in Southie High.'" ALSO: City on a Hill debuts to okay ratings.
