Jake Tapper's The Hellfire Club novel is getting an HBO Max adaptation

The WarnerMedia streaming service is tapping into corporate synergy with a movie adaption of the CNN anchor's 2018 novel. The Revenant co-writer Mark L. Smith will write the adaptation of The Hellfire Club, which tells the story of a freshman Congressman who arrives in Washington, D.C. at the height of Joe McCarthy's "Red Scare" in the early 1950s.
