FX has given a series order to the TV adaptation of Thomas Perry's 2017 bestselling novel. The Old Man will have the Oscar-winning Bridges playing Dan Chase, "who absconded from the CIA decades ago and has been living off the grid since," according to Variety. "When an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past." The Old Man will be produced by Warren Littlefield, with Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine penning the script and serving as executive producers. "Jeff Bridges is an iconic, extraordinary actor and to have him as the star of this series is an incredible moment for FX,” said Nick Grad, co-president of original programming for FX Entertainment. This will be Bridges' first regular TV role. As a child, Bridges appeared several times on his dad Lloyd Bridges' TV shows Sea Hunt and The Lloyd Bridges Show.
