McCarthy recalled her time on the ABC daytime show while chatting with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. McCarthy said she was supposed to bring her pop-culture knowledge to the show, but Barbara Walters wasn't interested in that. “Barbara didn’t know who anybody was pop culture-wise and they came in my dressing room and said, ‘Can you just act Republican so we have another point of view?’ And I said, ‘How do I act Republican?'”
