Favreau said on Good Morning America this morning that he was scared the stunning ending to The Mandalorian Season 2 would leak out. “It was very tricky, because it’s very hard to keep a secret nowadays. There are so many people involved with the process," said Favreau. "Every piece of (Season 2) casting leaked, so we were so scared, right up until it aired, that our surprise cameo was going to leak, too.” Favreau added that shooting the scene "was very special" to him as a Star Wars fan. Even Mark Hamill was impressed that the big spoiler wasn't spoiled, calling it a "miracle" that the secret lasted for "over a year." "A real triumph for spoiler-haters everywhere!," Hamill added. Favreau also explained The Book of Boba Fett spinoff that was teased in the Season 2 finale, noting that it's a standalone series. It stars Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen with Robert Rodriguez joining Favreau and Dave Filoni as an executive producer. "This is actually separate from The Mandalorian Season 3," he said. In fact, the Boba Fett spinoff is already filming. After that, Favreau says Season 3 of The Mandalorian will begin filming with star Pedro Pascal returning to the title role. "So that’s going to be pretty soon following that," he said. "So were working on that pre-production now, while we’re in production on Boba Fett.'”
