According to Vulture, co-head writer Colin Jost came up with the idea and got Damon to agree to play the Supreme Court nominee in the early hours of Saturday morning. Damon flew out of L.A. at 6 a.m. Saturday morning and arrived at the 30 Rock to begin preparing for his role at 4 p.m. -- less than eight hours before show time.
