Matthew Weiner denied Mad Men sexual harassment allegation while promoting his new book in the San Francisco Bay Area

Weiner’s speaking engagement in Marin County on Tuesday night carried on as planned, five days after former writer Kater Gordon accused him of sexual harassment. Promoting his new novel, Heather, The Totality, Weiner first had to answer a question about the controversy. “It’s a baseless accusation,” Weiner said. “Sexual harassment is a very serious issue and the focus of my work and career during (the production of) 92 hours of Mad Men. People who know me know it’s a very important issue to me, and that I’m not like that — it’s not me.” Weiner added: "This is an incredible moment (in history). I take it very seriously — it’s a conversation that needed to be had.”
