Following Wolf's controversial performance at this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner, the White House Correspondents' Association has opted to have historian Ron Chernow speak at next year's event. "The @whca are cowards. The media is complicit. And I couldn't be prouder," Wolf tweeted in reaction to the news. This will be the first time in decades that the White House Correspondents' Dinner won't have a comedian as host. Chernow is most famous for his Alexander Hamilton biography that inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical Hamilton. According to James Poniewozik. the WHCA's decision is a bad look coming amid the Trump administration. "I'm not super-invested in what WHCA does for its party," he tweeted. "I do think there's difference whether they made this change because they've decided having a comedian was *always* a bad idea or if they think it's a bad idea *while Trump is president.* Put another way: if the thinking is that as long as Trump is president, any comedian who does political material is going to have to poke at uncomfortable issues and it'll be ugly, then you're letting him set the terms of discussion."
