Only four of Fox Sports' 12 commentators will make the trip to Russia. The rest will stay behind as Fox has opted to spend less money on the production since the U.S. men's national team isn't competing. Fox Sports, which paid an unprecedented $425 million for TV rights for the next two World Cups, also announced a mostly inexperienced American crew calling the games, a stark contrast to the many foreign experienced announcers on past ESPN World Cup broadcasts. The commentators include Aly Wagner, who will be the first woman to call a men's World Cup game on TV.
