Greenblatt led a remarkable turnaround of NBC, from the gutter to No. 1, over the past eight years. On Friday, it was reported that he was expected to leave the network at the end of the 2018-19 TV season. But in a surprise move, he is stepping down today. He'll be replaced by NBC reality chief Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, a "rising star at the company." Greenblatt says that he had long considered stepping down, despite signing a new contract just last year. “You do get weary in these jobs,” he told The New York Times. “With the daily changes that go on, you’re constantly reconfiguring the business. I’m just really excited about doing something. Whatever I do will be some new challenge. These jobs are really relentless.”
