ESPN reports that "Lift Every Voice And Sing," traditionally known as the Black national anthem, is expected to be performed live or played before every Week 1 game. African-American educator and activist James Weldon Johnson introduced the song as a poem in 1900. The song would be performed before "The Star-Spangled Banner." The NFL is also reportedly planning additional steps to recognize victims of police brutality this season.
