NFL's 2020 kickoff was down from last year but up from 2018

About 19.3 million watched the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs play the Houston Texans on NBC to kick off the 2020 season. That's down from 22.12 million for last year's kickoff game, but up from the 19 million who watched the 2018 kickoff. For the first time ever, an NFL game went up against the NBA and NHL playoffs, which may have hurt viewership.  In fact, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, Thursday was one of the busiest sports day in history with the NFL, Major League Baseball, NBA, WNBA, Major League Soccer, tennis, college football and the NHL all playing games on the same day for the first time.
