Cindy Holland, vice president of originals for Netflix, reiterated today while on stage at Recode's Code conference with Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne that the beloved comedy wasn't attracting enough viewership to keep it going. “It would grow a little bit but we just couldn’t find the broad audience that it could get and deserved to get,” said Holland. “It has to get a big enough audience to justify the cost of it and in that particular case, it didn’t.” In contrast, she pointed out Russian Doll was exceeding Netflix's expectations.
