The romantic drama, which premiered in June and was renewed for Season 2 in July, has been canceled, effective immediately, despite a Warner Bros. TV inquiry into Akil finding no evidence of misconduct. "OWN has decided not to move forward with the second season of ‘Love Is __,'” the cable network said in a statement. “The TV memoir was inspired by the real-life love story of producers Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil.” According to The Wrap, OWN's decision "to scrap the series is said to be unrelated to the abuse allegation or the subsequent Warner Bros. inquiry." Actress Amber Dixon Brenner filed a lawsuit last month claiming domestic violence, sexual abuse and breach of contract. Love Is__ was based on the romantic life of Akil and his wife Mara Brock Akil. Salim Akil also serves as showrunner on The CW's Black Lightning.
