On Netflix, The Staircase still proves to be the godfather of true-crime documentaries

The 13-part documentary includes three newly filmed episodes for its Netflix debut. "Particularly in the newest episodes, which have an inessential, fans-only feel compared to the original eight covering the trial, it is the character of Peterson who takes over," says Jack Seale. "He becomes not just the subject of The Staircase but its star and de facto director." ALSO: The Staircase doesn't bring closure even with new episodes.
