Julia Carter is the only contestant to have not a single confessional interview in the first three episodes of this season, while some contestants have had as many as 12 and 13. "As Jeff Probst said, I went on #Survivor knowing I may be a role model & inspire someone to play despite NOT fitting the archetype. Therefore, in S38, in which there are only 2 Black castaways, it’s disheartening to see the lack of equitable airtime defeating my goal," Carter tweeted. In another tweet, she added: "But we have A LOT of S38 left! Hopefully, @survivorcbs can strategize in the future, taking into account that fans want to see more of us. As for now, for those at home not seeing many people who may look like you on the show, continue to watch! And trust me, you can do it."
